Statement “In the midst of a pandemic that has taken hundreds of thousands of American lives and is accelerating, rather than coming under control, a federal government shutdown would be devastating. So we are pleased that today the U.S. Senate passed a Continuing Resolution that will keep the U.S. government open through December 11, 2020. The U.S. House of Representatives passed a bill to do the same last week. President Trump should immediately sign it into law.”

Statement “The moms of America were appalled last night by the disgraceful display we saw from President Trump during the presidential debate. Millions of moms watched the debate with their children, thinking it would be educational and teach them about how leaders from different parties would solve the challenges facing our country today.

Statement “Opportunities diminished. Discrimination unchecked. Rights devalued. Health care, reproductive freedom, and justice denied. Checks and balances crushed. Promises discarded the moment they become inconvenient. The arc of the moral universe bending away from, instead of toward, justice. Democracy trampled.

Statement “Shock. Outrage. We stand with the family and loved ones of Breonna Taylor, Black Lives Matter Louisville, the tens of thousands of activists in Kentucky, and the national Movement for Black Lives in calling for justice. There is no other way fair-minded people can react to the grand jury decision announced in Louisville today. We support the movement demands that three officers responsible for Breonna Taylor’s murder should have been fired, charged with murder, and had their pensions revoked.

Statement “As moms, we feel the intense, acute pain of 200,000 lives lost to the COVID-19 pandemic. We know that 200,000 families have been shattered, and 200,000 communities, schools and workplaces will never be the same. We know that our collective future is less bright because the contributions, wisdom, joy and love of those 200,000 moms and dads, sons and daughters, spouses and siblings are lost to us forever. We know America is diminished by the loss of every one of them.

Statement “The passing of Ruth Bader Ginsburg is a deep, painful, immense loss for the nation. Her contributions were greater than words can express and her legacy is a country that is more fair, more just, and more healthy for women, people of color, and others whose rights have long been denied. Justice Ginsburg was a trailblazer, a pioneer, a mom, and a brilliant jurist whose body of work will live on and inspire us forever. She was rightly adored for her keen, unwavering commitment to justice.

Statement “In passing the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act this afternoon with bipartisan support, the U.S. House of Representatives took an essential step to make our workplaces more fair and to dismantle the shameful discrimination and racism that contribute to this country’s Black maternal health crisis. No one should have to choose between a paycheck and having a healthy pregnancy, yet in the United States today, too many people do -- including many essential workers who are doing heroic work in the pandemic and urgently need these protections.

Statement “Yesterday’s Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals ruling to allow the Trump administration to strip hundreds of thousands of TPS holders of their legal status and tear them away from their families is a grave and harmful miscarriage of justice. Some 130,000 TPS holders are on the frontlines of the response to the COVID-19 pandemic, and more than 273,000 are parents of children who are U.S. citizens. Many have lived here for decades and make substantial contributions, pay taxes, and create businesses and jobs in their communities.

Statement “America’s moms rejoice that, for the first time in our country’s history, a major political party’s presidential ticket includes a woman of color. This historic choice – the first African American and Asian American woman vice-presidential candidate on a major ticket – is long overdue. Our nation’s rich diversity should always be reflected in its candidates for high office and its leaders.

News release “America’s moms are horrified and disgusted by what President Trump said this morning, all but admitting he is withholding U.S. Postal Service funding in order to make mail-in voting impossible this year. People rely on the mail to get life-saving medications, checks that allow them to buy food and pay the rent, and bills they need to pay. In rural communities, the postal service plays an even greater role in community life. It is a major employer of veterans. Clearly none of that matters at all to President Trump.
