Statement “The horrific violence at the Chabad Synagogue in Poway, California, this weekend, on the last day of Passover -- one of the holiest days of the year for the Jewish community -- is an excruciatingly painful reminder of the price we pay when anti-Semitism and white supremacy go unchecked. Our hearts break for the family of Lori Kaye, who was murdered, and for all those who were injured and terrorized by this brutal, senseless act.

Statement “MomsRising commends the Colorado state Senate for passing SB19-188 today. This is the first time the state Senate has passed a bill moving paid family and medical leave forward in Colorado. We are encouraged that Senators Faith Winter and Angela Williams, the bill sponsors, were able to forge a path forward with an implementation bill that creates a timeline and process for passing the kind of comprehensive paid family and medical leave program Coloradans urgently need.

Statement “While Secretary Nielsen’s departure will bring new leadership to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), we need new policies and perspectives that are based on facts and built on a foundation of respect for basic human rights. It is very clear that the problem with our country’s current immigration policies starts at the top. Unless President Trump stops demonizing asylum-seekers and abandons his counterproductive policies, his administration will continue to fail.

Statement “The Paying Hourly Americans Stronger Earnings (PHASE)-in $15 Wage Act (H.R. 2080), introduced today in the U.S. House of Representatives by Rep. Terri Sewell (AL-7), is ill-conceived and harmful. At this time when working moms and their families urgently need a raise, we should recognize the national minimum wage as the essential federal protection it is and reject all efforts to weaken it by allowing regional adjustments.

Statement “As our name suggests, MomsRising is a moms organization and we are saying, clearly, loudly, and without equivocation that a paid leave program that provides parental leave only, and fails to cover the vast majority of caregiving needs families face, as U.S. Sen. Cassidy discussed this morning, would be fatally flawed.
