Statement “The brutal mass shootings in Dayton last night and in El Paso yesterday morning were two more heart shattering, preventable tragedies. Too many lives have been ended or forever altered. Too many mothers, fathers, sons, and daughters are mourning.  There have been more mass shootings in our country than there have been days in 2019;  many shooters have used military-style assault weapons, which must be banned; and in recent years white nationalist extremists have killed more people in the United States than any other type of domestic extremist.

Statement “US Bancorp and Barclays’ decisions to not refinance existing commitments with the private prison industry is another tremendous win in an effort by more than 100 organizations in the Families Belong Together Corporate Accountability Committee to cut off the financing of an industry profiting from the pain and suffering of families.

Statement “We applaud U.S. Senators Robert Casey (D-Penn.) and Susan Collins (R-Maine) for introducing the Wise Investment in our Children (WIC) Act today. This essential, bi-partisan bill would expand crucial nutritional support for vulnerable mothers and young children, improving birth outcomes, boosting maternal health, and strengthening the next generation. Its passage is a high priority for America’s moms and it should be a high priority for every U.S. Senator.”

Statement “The Trump administration continued its unrelenting assault on our nation’s most vulnerable families this week when it proposed a rule to take crucial food assistance away from more than three million people. The impact of this rule would be more hunger in America, more families struggling to meet their basic needs, and more children with health and learning problems driven by hunger.

Statement “MomsRising members from across the country are telling us that they are scared. Members who are women of color and immigrants, and those based in North Carolina, in particular, found the chants of ‘send her back’ at President Trump’s campaign rally in Greenville last night to be terrifying. Moms fear for their children and their families; some tell us they are afraid to send their children to Eastern Carolina University this fall.

Statement “We applaud the U.S. House of Representatives for standing up for low-wage workers and families by passing the Raise the Wage Act, which would boost the paychecks of millions of moms and help lift families out of poverty. Today’s action was long overdue. Congress has not increased the minimum wage in more than a decade while corporations have raked in huge profits. Millions of working families are struggling to cover their basic needs and are without the economic security they need and deserve.

Statement “America’s moms are horrified by today’s announcement from the U.S. Department of Justice and the Department of Homeland Security, that the Trump administration will publish an interim final rule tomorrow that restricts access to our country’s asylum system for anyone who did not seek protection from the countries through which they passed on their way to the United States.

Statement “The millions of people and more than 100 organizations representing the Families Belong Together Corporate Accountability Committee are encouraged by BNP Paribas’s decision to no longer finance the U.S. private prison industry and immigration detention companies. By becoming the first non-US based bank to exit the private prison industry, BNP Paribas is responding to the fact that consumers in the U.S. are concerned about their banks’ role in incarcerating immigrants and communities of color. And by becoming the first regional U.S.

News release “It is the shame of our nation that immigrant families across the country are living in fear of being separated due to the raids, mass arrests, and deportations President Trump is threatening. With rumors circulating that these heartless raids could begin this weekend -- and reports that ICE agents will ‘specifically target adults with children’ -- children are terrified, parents panicked, and communities are experiencing unnecessary fear and chaos.

Statement “America’s moms have an enormous amount at stake in Texas v. United States, the case that was argued this afternoon before the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals in New Orleans. The Trump administration and a coalition of Republican-led states are once again trying to invalidate the Affordable Care Act (ACA). If they succeed, 133 million people living with a pre-existing condition – more than half of them women – will be at risk for losing their health coverage.
