News release “Ending DACA (the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program) would be a massive blow not just to the 600,000+ people enrolled in the program but to our workforce, our economy, and our country. We are pleased that the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals is allowing people in the program to renew their status – for now – and that it sent the case back to the lower court to consider the new Biden administration regulation fortifying the program.

Statement “Structural racism and sexism. Insufficient workplace protections. Widespread bias and discrimination. A shamefully inadequate minimum wage, Lack of paid leave, child care and inadequate investments in home- and community-based care that would allow family caregivers to return to work. And now bans on access to abortion care, while maternal morbidity rises. All of these are or will be driving factors in the disgraceful wage gap Black women face, which remains one of the widest and most damaging of any racial or ethnic group.

Statement “America’s moms are grateful to U.S. Representatives Alma Adams (D-NC) and Ashley Hinson (R-IA) and U.S. Senators Cory Booker (D-NJ), Chuck Grassley (R-IA) and Jeff Merkley (D-OR) for championing the resolution to designate September 19, 2022 as National Stillbirth Prevention Day. In the United States, some 23,000 pregnancies end in stillbirth each year. That is more than 60 stillbirths every day, and they bring crushing disappointment and immense grief to moms and families.

Statement “The Trump administration’s ‘public charge’ rule was cruel and racist, and moms are thrilled that the Biden administration replaced it with a fair, compassionate rule that will allow hard-working immigrant families to access food, health care, and other essential services they need to thrive.
