Statement "Today, MomsRising and its more than one million members across the U.S. are applauding the passage of historic legislation many decades in the making – health reform. For too long, families in the United States have been at the mercy of insurance companies that have denied them coverage just when they needed it most and premiums that increase while coverage decreases. Millions of other families have simply gone without the health care they needed because they didn’t have and couldn’t afford health insurance.

Statement "We are delighted to see a real focus on jobs and economic security in President Obama’s proposed budget for the 2011 fiscal year. This budget takes some important steps toward making life better for families in the United States through provisions that recognize work/family balance policy as critical to job stability and economic security. An example is the provisions regarding paid family leave which will help states create insurance programs to help small businesses support new parents who need to take leave after the arrival of a new child.

News release SEATTLE – The state Capitol will be rocking Friday, February 5th as families, friends, and preschoolers join Caspar Babypants for a sing-along to build support for quality early learning programs.   MomsRising organized this event to ensure that the WA State Legislature doesn't forget the littlest residents of our state. Particularly in difficult economic times, we must make sure that all children have a healthy start, and prioritize important programs that bring long-term cost savings for taxpayers such as increased access to early learning.

News release This year, people who shop at Wal-Mart may bring home something they cannot return. Recent news reports by the The New York Times, Washington Post and ABC News have revealed that the megastore colossus has a practice of issuing what are commonly called demerits, or “occurrences” to employees who get sick and take sick days. Accruing enough occurrences can lead to dismissal. As a result, many Wal-Mart employees feel compelled to go to work sick and are unwittingly exposing their co-workers and customers to the flu and other contagious diseases.
