Statement “The moms of America can breathe a sigh of relief now that the Republican Farm Bill failed on the floor of the House of Representatives. The rejection of this bill is a victory for America’s families, because it includes callous, new requirements for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) that would take food assistance away from people who do not work a set number of hours. The proposed changes to SNAP would have stripped food assistance away from millions, including children. Its failure is a victory for moms, families, children, our economy and our country.
