Woman holding megaphone with text that reads "The time is now to speak out to protect medicaid"
“My son has cystic fibrosis and type 1 diabetes. Medicaid has literally saved his life. As a single low income parent I can barely afford to provide housing and food… My child deserves to have the life-saving medications he needs and he also deserves to have a home and food. Without Medicaid, I don't think he can have all those things.”

As humans, we live in and through stories. Neuroscience shows that our brains like stories —we actually crave stories—and when we hear a well-told story, it helps us to cut out distractions, helps people remember concepts with greater accuracy, and as hearts are changed as stories are told and heard, minds can be changed about the need for public policy. Let’s face it numbers don’t lie, statistics paint a picture, but stories are incredibly effective when it comes to moving change. Our stories...

Moms For Freedom Agenda: A Vision to Lift Our Nation We value our freedoms. The freedom to be there for our children and families when we’re needed most, to choose what’s best for our families, to send our kids to schools where every child belongs and can thrive , and to be able to earn equal pay and a living wage. It’s well past time for policies that allow our children to have the best start in life, parents and care workers to thrive, and our elders the best possible golden years. Moms are...
The environmental and climate movement has been gaining momentum in recent years, and mothers, women of color, and their children have been at the forefront. We are leading the charge in raising awareness about the effects of pollution, extreme weather events, and ecological destruction on our health and well-being. Music has long been an expression of activism, from Bob Dylan to Billie Eilish . As mothers, we can use this medium to educate ourselves and our children about environmental issues...

If you are pregnant or pumping at work new legislation signed into law at the end of last year offers you new legal protections! Gone are the days of choosing between a healthy pregnancy and a paycheck. No more pumping in storage closets or the bathroom. Pregnant, breastfeeding, and lactating workers are no longer forced to make these impossible decisions thanks to the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act and the PUMP for Nursing Mothers Act (“PUMP Act”).

We all want the same thing – a safe place for our families to live and thrive. That’s exactly what parents are looking for when they reach our border and request asylum. We all want our children to be alive and well. For some parents that means they have to trek international borders to keep themselves and their children safe from persecution and violence.

Earlier this winter, I had a frightening experience: my baby had both the flu and an ear infection. Normally, I would get the antibiotics he needed to remedy the situation. Instead, the medications his pediatrician prescribed were out of stock at our local pharmacy. I called multiple pharmacies nearby only to hear the dreaded news that they too were facing a shortage and had nothing in stock. My baby was running a high fever and crying in pain. Fortunately, we were able to go to the next town...
