Tina Sherman is the National Director for Maternal Justice at MomsRising, where she leads work focused on improving the health, dignity, and economic security of mothers and birthing people across the country. A certified birth doula with formal training in public policy, Tina brings both head and heart to her work grounding national advocacy in the lived experiences of families, especially those most impacted by racial and economic injustice.
Tina's path to this work is both personal and political. She began her career as a legislative aide in the U.S. Senate and went on to work with several child and women’s advocacy organizations. Guided by the belief that those closest to the challenges should shape the solutions, her work pushes for policies that reflect real lives and center care, equity, and dignity.
Tina and her husband, JP, are raising four sons ranging from 10 to 19, including 16-year-old twins. She remains deeply connected to her community, serving as chair of the Town Planning Board and Affordable Housing Committee in her hometown as well as several state level boards including the North Carolina Partnership for Children and as co-chairs the NC Maternal Mortality Review Committee.
