Statement “The bill introduced this week in the U.S. House of Representatives to reauthorize the federal child nutrition programs actually weakens those programs, which are intended to ensure that children have access to the healthy and nutritious meals they need to thrive. It would cut off food programs for tens of thousands of children who need them and create unnecessary barriers that would prevent additional children from enrolling.

Statement “It’s Equal Pay Day again. The day when women will have earned the same amount men did in the previous year. That means that on average, it takes women 15 months to earn what men make in 12. It takes women of color and mothers even longer. That’s just shameful.

Statement "The New York State's new paid family leave bill will be a milestone for New York moms, dads and their families. When it's enacted, New York will be the fourth state to ensure its citizens have this important but basic workplace protection.   "Right now, too many parents have to make the impossible choice between a paycheck and the time off they need when a child is born or a family member is critically ill. That should never happen.

Statement “The speed with which the North Carolina legislature and Governor McCrory passed and enacted the state’s new so-called “nondiscrimination ordinance” is a sign they knew what they were doing was wrong. This stealth legislation is clearly discriminatory and intended to marginalize the LGBTQ parents, families, and community across the state.   “Today, MomsRising stands with the LGBTQ community in North Carolina and nationwide in condemning the cowardly and homophobic actions of the legislature and Governor McCrory.

Statement “Even before President Obama had time to consider a nominee to fill Justice Antonin Scalia’s vacancy on the Supreme Court, Republicans in Congress said they would oppose anyone he nominated. We at MomsRising hope that was just political hyperbole and that Congressional leaders will recognize that the President’s Constitutional responsibility and the good of the nation are more important than partisanship.
