Statement “Brooklyn. Sacramento. Cedar Rapids. Greenville. “A subway train. A nightclub. A street corner. A school. “No setting is safe, no community immune from the scourge of gun violence that is devastating our country.  “Our hearts break for every victim of this morning’s mass shooting at a Brooklyn subway station and all those affected by it, and for every victim of all the other shootings that occur in this country day after day after day.

Statement “America’s moms are cheering the bipartisan U.S. Senate confirmation of Ketanji Brown Jackson to serve as an associate justice on the U.S. Supreme Court. This is a historic, meaningful moment that will make our highest court more reflective of our country’s rich diversity, more fair, and more just. “We welcome Jackson’s unwavering commitment to equal justice for all as the U.S. Supreme Court adjudicates issues that will shape our lives, including health care, privacy, voting rights, discrimination, policing, and more.”

Statement “America’s moms are relieved that the Biden administration is putting an end to the use – or misuse – of Title 42, a policy started by the Trump administration to deny asylum-seekers a chance to seek safety in the United States. U.S. law allows people to seek asylum at our border and this policy has undermined our own law. In fact, Title 42 is a health law that should never have been used in this way. Moms would like to see it ended today, rather than waiting till May 23.

Statement “A stillbirth is one of the most shattering experiences a family can face and, tragically, it happens some 23,500 times per year in our country. That’s approximately 65 stillbirths every day. Despite that sobering statistic, the causes of stillbirths are under-studied, and its prevention is under-funded.

Statement “There is much to praise in President Biden's FY 2023 budget proposal, including badly needed, long overdue investments that would cut the cost of child care and health care for millions of families; improve maternal health care; and help people in this country access the mental health care they need.

Statement “America’s moms look forward to a fair Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on D.C. Circuit Court Judge Kentanji Brown Jackson’s nomination to serve as an associate justice on the U.S. Supreme Court, followed by a favorable Committee report on this superbly qualified nominee. President Biden’s nomination of Judge Jackson was brilliant and historic. She is a fair-minded jurist with exceptional credentials, who the U.S. Senate has already confirmed three times, each time with bipartisan support.

Statement “At a time when rates of domestic and other forms of violence are increasing, moms and families will be safer because Congress passed and President Biden signed the Violence Against Women Act Reauthorization Act of 2022 (VAWA 2022) into law.

Statement “America’s moms want a democracy where everyone participates, every vote is counted, and every voice is heard. By adopting new restrictions that criminalize commonly used voting practices that have been legal for years, by creating an Office of Election Crimes and Security, and by instituting fines and prison sentences for helping people vote, the state’s GOP lawmakers are embracing shameful intimidation tactics when they should be working to strengthen our democracy.
