Statement Eau Claire, WI -- Today, starting at 2 PM, moms advocacy groups will join together to deliver letters and petitions to the Eau Claire City Council, demanding a table to the vote for an “exception” for Catherine Emmanuelle, a two-term Eau Claire City Council Member and mother of an 11-month old, who has been barred from her legally protected right to breastfeed in public because she was banned from the dais (an elevated platform in chambers where council members sit) during council meetings, and has been told that breastfeeding her child in public at the council dais violates the

Statement “The budget the U.S. Senate passed today would leave millions of working families worse off than they are right now. This vote undermines our country’s values and economy by prioritizing tax cuts for the wealthy while leaving low-income families to fend for themselves. Its $1.5 trillion in tax cuts for the wealthy are indefensible, especially because they are coupled with deep, punishing cuts to food and nutrition assistance, health care, Head Start, Medicaid, early education, disaster assistance and other essential programs that boost families and our economy.

Statement “Late last night, President Trump, ignoring the will of the people and the wisdom of experts, announced he would end the Affordable Care Act’s cost-sharing subsidies, which will hurt millions of America’s families, damage our economy, and throw our health care system into chaos. This action will raise out-of-pocket costs, deny millions of people access to affordable insurance and risk the stability of the individual health insurance market.

Statement “Being able to determine how many children to have and when to have them is a key part of women’s freedom and economic prosperity. To undermine coverage for birth control for millions of women, as the rules released today do, is to do nothing short of undermining women’s freedom. Make no mistake, the Trump administration is actively closing doors for women and moms by eliminating coverage for birth control and through other actions. Ninety-nine percent of women use birth control, including the majority of moms.

Statement “Yesterday, California Governor Jerry Brown made his state safer and stronger by signing SB54, the California Values Act, into law. This bill will shield some Californians from some of the Trump administration’s heartless deportation policies, protecting families, improving public safety and strengthening the state’s communities and economy. We applaud Gov. Brown and the state legislature for standing up to ICE, and for supporting the diversity that helps make California strong, innovative and prosperous.

The order allows individuals to act or abstain from action according to their religious beliefs and prohibits the government from targeting religious individuals and organizations for acting on those beliefs.
