News release MomsRising, the million-member online and on-the-ground grassroots organization working to improve economic security for all families, today joined the nation in mourning the loss of U.S. Senator Edward M. Kennedy. On the day he is being laid to rest, MomsRising Executive Director Kristin Rowe-Finkbeiner called the Senator “a force of nature, a lion, and an elegant street fighter for social justice.”

News release Dressed in red capes and wielding the truth about healthcare reform, members of the online and on-the-ground grassroots organization MomsRising.org are fanning out across the country to ensure that people understand what healthcare reform really involves. The effort is a mom-style response to often-cited rumors about such non-existent provisions as those that would empower “death panels” to ascertain whether seniors should receive care.

News release It may be Governor Schwarzenegger’s birthday, but California moms and kids certainly don’t feel like celebrating. Instead, a group of moms visited the Governor’s office today to deliver “unhappy birthday” cards protesting the cuts he made to the Healthy Families Program, which provides health insurance for California children. They are members of MomsRising.org, an online grassroots and on-the-ground organization for moms (and anyone that has a mom).

News release ACORN and MomsRising.org are partnering this week using a unique new Twitter tool to petition Goldman Sachs, the parent company of loan servicing company Litton, to sign on to use the President’s new Making Home Affordable (MHA) Program. This program would help millions of families avoid foreclosure and keep their home. Goldman Sachs, along with three other institutions, has failed to take advantage of it to date.

News release In just ten days, MomsRising.org, an online and on-the-ground organization for moms and everyone who has a mom saw its membership grow from just over 160,000 to 1,179,154 thanks to a customizable Mother’s Day video which, to date, has had more than 12 million views. MomsRising.org shared the video through its members and by partnering with like-minded organizations that also distributed and posted it.

News release Late last week, women across the U.S. began receiving an unusual Mother’s Day email message which included a humorous and entertaining, customizable short video featuring Beyoncé, a bouncing baby boy (complete with interpretive subtitles), and President Barack Obama. More than a million people honored moms across the country with the “MomsRising.org Mother of the Year” video, which is still sweeping the nation. The video, developed and produced by the online and on-the-ground grassroots organization MomsRising.org, has now gone viral with more than 10 million views to date.

They struggle to make ends meet and to do the best they can at work and at home. The budget passed today by the U.S. Congress will help America’s families thrive, in part by expanding health care and increasing investments in education.
