Over the summer, I took eight-year-old PunditGirl to see the Meet Kit, American Girl movie . For the uninitiated, Kit is the Depression-era girl whose dad loses his job, moves away to look for work and the family ends up taking in boarders and keeping chickens to sell eggs to make ends meet.

Last night my family and I ran around with a video camera taping all the places people can make reminder to vote calls. It was fun. A bit embarrassing (well a lot embarrassing!). But it's for a good cause--the election is literally just around the corner--and my kids had a good time figuring out where to film like in the kayak, up in a tree, and other wacky places.

My two children have received excellent public health benefits in San Francisco since before they were born. After my children were born, this coverage has allowed me to focus on taking care of our kids - now ages 5 and 2.5 - rather than get a job just for the healthcare benefits.
