Statement “Today the highest court in our land struck a blow for fairness, justice and equality at work by ruling that existing civil rights law protects working people from discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity. In ruling by a margin of 6 – 3 that Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 prohibits discrimination against LGBTQ+ people, the U.S. Supreme Court granted LGBTQ+ workers the protections everyone deserves against unfair treatment in the workplace.

Statement “At this time when people across the United States are stepping forward to take a stand against systemic racism and police violence, it is shameful that the Trump administration is trying to institutionalize its racist immigration and asylum policies. Families belong together. We are all connected. And every family deserves a chance to live free of violence.

Statement “This Moms' Equal Pay Day, we especially want to explicitly and clearly focus on the fact that Black moms and women are especially vulnerable to pay discrimination, as well as to the health and economic harms that COVID-19 is causing. We hold many of the frontline jobs that have kept this country going during the pandemic, even as it is taking a disproportionate and deadly toll on our community. At the same time, we are leading much of the organizing against police violence and racism that is essential to building a safe future for our children.

Statement “The right to protest is one of the bedrock foundations of our democracy and has led to vitally important advances throughout our history. In the United States of America, we have the right to protest, to make our voices heard, and to speak truth to power. The brutal murder of George Floyd by Minneapolis police deserves the sustained, furious national response it has generated, with people taking a stand against the horrific racism that has long pervaded our criminal justice system – and our society – and time and again takes innocent lives.

Statement “The moms of America are grieving that George Floyd was killed by four police officers earlier this week. No mother should have to worry about the loss of a loved one at the hands of those charged with protection. No one should lose their lives. “MomsRising is calling for the police officers who killed George Floyd to be charged with murder and for the vicious and inflammatory attacks on protesters, including the inflammatory attacks by President Trump, to stop immediately.

Statement “America’s moms and families are well aware that our country was lacking quality, affordable child care before the pandemic, and we have watched with grave, growing concern as it’s become clear that it will become even more scarce in the months ahead. This is a national emergency because parents need safe, enriching places for children so they can return to work, and children need safe, enriching early learning opportunities so they can thrive. That’s why we have called on lawmakers to make a significant investment in child care. We thank U.S.

Statement “America’s moms are thrilled and grateful that the U.S. House of Representatives passed the HEROES (Health and Economic Recovery Omnibus Emergency Solutions) Act this evening. We thank Speaker Pelosi and every representative who voted for this vitally important legislation, which provides access to paid leave/sick days, health care, nutrition assistance, some federal-level decarceration, aid to state and local governments, direct payments for struggling families, including immigrant families, and more.

Statement “The HEROES (Health and Economic Recovery Omnibus Emergency Solutions) Act is vitally important legislation that would provide the help the country needs right now when it comes to access to paid leave/sick days, health care, nutrition assistance, and aid to state and local governments. We urge Congress to pass it immediately, as we also recognize that more must be done to fully address the needs of families, businesses, and our economy.

Statement “This is a Mother’s Day like no other for our country’s moms. We’re trying to keep our kids occupied, healthy, and safe. Watching our jobs disappear and our childcare centers close. Wondering how to keep our aging parents from evading social distancing rules. Struggling to feed our kids. Mourning our loved ones. Trying to understand how, at this moment, any lawmaker can oppose making food, health care, and paid leave available to all of us. Worrying about the future, often as we toss and turn at 3 a.m.

Statement “We are grateful that Congress has passed the Paycheck Protection Program and Health Care Enhancement Act – its fourth coronavirus response bill. It will provide urgently needed funds for hospitals and small businesses, and to support the COVID-19 testing we need across the nation. We thank Speaker Pelosi and all the House leaders who transformed it from a Republican scheme that did nothing for hospitals or for the small businesses that are most at-risk to the legislation it is today.
