Violet's story is about a little girl who unexpectedly faced big, big health issues. When her parents, Julie and Matt, tell their story, it's easy (and heartbreaking) to imagine being in their shoes. Have your tissues ready: Julie is a MomsRising member from California.

It's hard to believe it's been a year since President Obama signed the Affordable Care Act. But in the twelve months since it was signed, the law has already given Americans more freedom and control over their health care choices. The law’s key goals for America’s families: better benefits and...

In the year since President Obama signed the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) into law on March 23, 2010, a sea of ink and digital bits have been spilled on every possible angle of commentary and advocacy about the law. But a year later, one simple conclusion deserves its share of...

Our 7-year old son has been battling a rare cancer called a sarcoma for over 3 years. Unfortunately, this disease will be treated as a chronic condition for the rest of his life. I was so grateful and relieved the night that health care reform was finally passed back in December of 2009. We...

Él no puede pagar por si mismo su cuidado de salud y mi esposo y yo no podíamos pagárselo tampoco. Pero...

I have several chronic conditions, all of which are wildly expensive, including Type 1 diabetes since age 10. I have lived my whole adult life in fear of benefit caps, sudden coverage drops, randomly denied claims from people at my insurance company who have no medical knowledge – and as a person...

As we learned from the BP oil disaster, the full cost of an oil spill is more than the price of some boom and a good PR person. It also includes lost income from local fishermen, health care for children who inhale dispersants, and long term testing of both marine life and human life. Oil spills happen in the Gulf of Mexico all the time, but it isn’t everyday that people pay attention. It’s time we start. It’s time we stop having to react to environmental disasters. It’s time we start building a more sustainable economy, creating a safer energy industry, and protecting what we have left while there’s still time.
