House Republican Budget Victory Is America’s Loss. Senate Must Not Allow This Abomination to Become Law.

Statement of Kristin Rowe-Finkbeiner, Executive Director and CEO of MomsRising, the online and on-the-ground organization of more than one million mothers and their families, on U.S. House of Representatives passing the budget reconciliation bill:

“The disastrous Republican budget the U.S. House of Representatives passed early this morning increases costs for families and hurts the economy, as it takes away access to health care, food and nutritional programs, education, and child and elder care in order to give trillions of dollars in tax cuts to billionaires and mega-wealthy corporations. It is a pure distillation of Republican priorities:

  • Make the richest among us even richer, even though it raises costs for families..
  • Deny hardworking moms and families the tools to build good lives.
  • Fund atrocious human rights abuses against our immigrant family members and neighbors.

“This Republican budget victory, engineered by President Trump, is America’s loss. It will cause more moms and families to go without health care, more children and seniors to go hungry, more families to struggle with even higher costs, and our children to have fewer educational resources. The cuts to Medicaid, SNAP, Planned Parenthood health centers, public education, and other essential programs will cause deep, lasting damage to moms and families, small businesses, farmers, and our economy.

“America’s moms will now turn to the U.S. Senate to block this abomination and instead pass a FY26 budget that reflects the priorities of working families and our economy.”
