Children do what their parents do, so make healthy choices in your everyday life and your kids will follow … for a lifetime.  Here are some ideas from Cristina, aka TriathlonMami.

Going somewhere? Get there without a car.  Ride a bike, walk, take a bus.  All of these make you move.  Show your kids there is more than one mode of transportation.  Not only is it healthy, they help the environment to boot!

Make Stairs Your Friend. Going up one floor or two? Show your kids that distance is not worth a ride and climb up the stairs.  And if you are at the mall, take the real stairs, usually right next to the escalator.

Play a sport.  Join a sports league, go to the gym, run races.  Nothing inspires kids more than wanting to play like their mom. Be committed to your own fitness, and make sure your kids can get to theirs.

Can’t find parking? Who cares?  Park as far away as possible and get some extra steps in from the car to the door.

Stuck Indoors? There is only so much you can do with freezing temps outside so make your move inside.  Electronics can meet fitness with games … our favorite? Just Dance!
