Felicia is National Director for health care at MomsRising. Throughout her career, she has worked to advance access to health care for families across the U.S. (and in her home state of North Carolina) with a special focus on lifting the voices and stories of impacted individuals. She has spoken about families' access to health care on national and local media channels as well as being invited to the Obama White House to speak about her work. She is a passionate advocate for improving children's health, programs that lift women and families out of poverty, and equal rights for her LGBTQ community. She has served on the steering committee for MomsRising's State Mom Force in North Carolina for thirteen years and holds a Master's degree in Public Administration with a graduate certificate in Public Policy.
When did you realize moms have superpowers?
“I realized I had super powers when my son was 6 weeks old and the doctors told me he needed to start chemotherapy. He had to have a port put into his heart to administer it, which needed constant monitoring for nearly a year. As devastating as that moment was, I knew I had to be super-strong to help my son get through that.”
