On 3.26.25, we hosted a #WellnessWed conversation across X and BlueSky to mark the anniversary of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and explore the ongoing impact of Medicaid expansion. The discussion centered on the progress made since the ACA’s passage, as well as the urgent need to close remaining coverage gaps. Our national partners included FamiliesUSA, The Children’s Partnership, Community Catalyst, the Center for American Progress, and Protect Our Care. Participants shared how the ACA and Medicaid expansion have transformed healthcare access especially for low-income families, rural communities, and people of color.

We celebrated success stories from states that expanded Medicaid, highlighting improved health outcomes, reduced uninsured rates, and stronger safety nets. At the same time, advocates underscored the stark consequences for individuals in states that have yet to expand Medicaid facing limited access to care, financial strain, and widening health disparities.

The conversation also spotlighted the ripple effect of Medicaid expansion: bolstering local hospitals, supporting community health centers, and strengthening entire local economies. Experts warned of the risks posed by rollbacks or new restrictions, which would undermine the health security of millions.
Finally, the discussion emphasized how advocates, providers, and community members can continue to protect and advance Medicaid and the ACA through different mediums including storytelling, organizing, and pushing for equitable health policy.

This critical discussion reached a potential 6.5M accounts and engaged over 554 accounts, illustrating the power of collective advocacy to keep health care at the center of national conversations.
