On Wednesday September, 9th, MomsRising hosted the weekly Wellness Wednesday chat with a focus around suicide prevention. This is such an important topic. According to the Suicide Prevention Research Center, suicides consistently outnumber homicides. Suicide rate is trending up while homicide rate is trending down.

That's pretty scary. With suicide rankings among the leading causes of death of people 45 and under, it's no wonder a week is needed in order to shed light on the topic. We had family therapist Cheryl Donald and mental health advocate and fabu artist, A'Driane Nieves as guests. The conversation was informative and supportive. There were also some great resources shared.

Below is the Storify of the chat. And here are some of the resources and information on suicide prevention:

If you or someone you know is in a crisis, I hope that you reach out to any of these organizations to ask for help. As I was putting this recap together, I ran across a story by Alexandra Rosas that felt like it needed to be shared here. Here's the link to The Candy Bar, a story about her experience losing a loved one to suicide.
