Trump and Republicans in Congress have shut down the government instead of fixing the health care crisis they created—and we’re not staying quiet.

On October 18th, hundreds of thousands of people across the country will come together to say NO KINGS! Will you join us?

Here’s the latest update: We’ll be showing our unity by wearing yellow across the nation. For generations, yellow has been the color of resistance in nonviolent, peaceful movements across the globe. Whether you’re rallying, hosting, or joining from home, wear yellow to stand out, send a bright, bold shared signal that America’s power belongs to our people, not kings.

We’re entering the third week of a government shutdown inflicted by Republicans, who control the U.S. House, the U.S. Senate, and the Oval Office.

Here’s what’s happening: Instead of working with Democrats to fix our growing health care crisis, Republicans opted to shut down the government. Shutting down the government because you don’t get your way isn’t leadership—it’s a power grab, and it’s a real threat to families, workers, and our economy. For instance, on Friday, federal workers received only a partial paycheck that covered the final days of September before funding paused—and that’s the last paycheck they'll receive until the government reopens. [1] On the same day, the Trump administration also laid off 3,500 federal employees. [2] And on top of that, paused essential government services are already hitting communities—from Indigenous communities who can no longer receive key medical care, to veterans unable to access their benefits, to farmers who have halted critical planning due to uncertainty about federal assistance, and so much more. [3]

To this we say: No more power grabs. No more shutdowns. No kings. Find an October 18th event near you!

And if you’re able to attend and plan to post any photos to social media, be sure to tag us @MomsRising #NoKings so we can show the strength of our mom and people power!

See you—in yellow—on October 18th!
