No matter where we come from or what our color, all of us should be able to access health care when we get sick. But some politicians in Raleigh have been blocking the expansion of Medicaid coverage to low-income, uninsured adults in North Carolina!

If the NC General Assembly expanded Medicaid, over 500,000 North Carolinians would have access to health care right now during the #COVID19 crisis and many of our rural hospitals that have had to close would still be open. Instead, they point the finger at immigrants or people struggling to make ends meet, claiming we can’t have a health care system that ensures all of us can get and stay well. We know better.

Let's join together and demand a health care system that’s accessible for us all, no matter what’s in our wallets or where we come from. Send a letter to your NC lawmakers to tell them you want North Carolina to expand Medicaid to low-income, uninsured adults. #CloseTheGapNC

The COVID-19 pandemic shows how critical it is for everyone to have access to health care. It’s past time for NC lawmakers to take immediate and urgent action to expand Medicaid, providing access to health care for over 500,000 uninsured adults in North Carolina. Our health depends on the health of the person next to us, and the person next to them. Ensuring others can access care—regardless of where they are from or their ability to pay—is how we take care of ourselves. We will pull through this crisis by pulling together.

Take action TODAY to tell lawmakers it’s time to expand Medicaid to low-income uninsured adults!

We all have a stake in making health coverage more accessible in North Carolina! Many of the North Carolinians without health insurance are on the front lines of this pandemic—working in hospitals and grocery stores to help us get well and stay fed, and over 25% of the uninsured are parents with children at home. North Carolina’s economy relies heavily on these individuals, and they deserve to have access to the care they need to be able to see a doctor when they get sick.

When we all speak out together, we show our lawmakers that the people of North Carolina support expanding access to health care for low-income uninsured adults, making a big impact. Health coverage for about half a million low-income North Carolinians is hanging in the balance, so it’s never been more important for us to speak out on the positive impact that expansion would have.

Medicaid Expansion in North Carolina makes good fiscal sense, too! Expansion would create more than 37,000 new jobs. A recent analysis indicates that the state would bring in $11.7 billion in health care funds between 2020 and 2022 by expanding Medicaid. These billions of dollars will be critical to our state’s economic recovery in light of the COVID19 pandemic, and are desperately needed by our health care providers now

Join your voice with thousands of other advocates across the state, speaking out to close the health care coverage gap. Don’t forget to send a letter to your lawmakers now!

Thank you for taking action and joining your voice with thousands of others to tell lawmakers to expand health insurance to uninsured adults in North Carolina!
