Take Action!

After what President Trump has done this week, I’m all about sending thousands of mini Statues of Liberty, along with messages from real people (that’s me & YOU!)  about the importance of liberty & justice for ALL--and I do mean ALL-- to Trump Towers across the nation as a reminder of the founding principles of our nation.

-> Who’s with me?

*Click the above link and we’ll send a mini Statue of Liberty for you to one of the Trump Towers in order to let Donald Trump know that liberty and justice for all, means all. If you want, when you click the link you can also type in a quick message to about why you think liberty and justice for ALL is a priority.

The Trump administration clearly needs a refresher on our history. The plaque at the base of our Statue of Liberty reads:"Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, the wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"

But just this week, President Donald Trump signed executive orders that are the opposite of our nation’s history and vision for the future.  Trump is advancing orders for “building a wall,” banning immigrants, and discriminating against people of the Muslim faith. This direction hurts our families, our economy, and our country.

(It’s fine if you don’t leave a comment too, just be sure to click to fill the form out to be a part of this project).

As President Trump announced actions this week, he invoked moms as an excuse for advancing his divisive policy that will hurt our economy, our families, and destroy communities. No. Nope. No way.  We want to state clearly: The actions President Trump announced yesterday are his agenda, not ours. And they are, quite simply, wrong.

—>  Help us send that message to Trump and to Congress by deluging the Trump Towers in liberty.

The moms of America know that the diversity of our nation is what has made us a strong, creative, and prosperous country. The dads of our nation know it too.  We know that immigrants play a large and important role in our economy, founding many of our largest companies, creating and running small businesses, employing many people in our nation, playing an important role in our labor force, and as caregivers and community members. In fact, immigrants or the children of immigrants founded a full 40 percent of Fortune 500 companies

We do not want to build walls, deport immigrants or ban refugees in need of new homes from resettling in this country.  We do not want to impose de facto religious tests on those seeking entry into our nation. We do not want to create divisions in our communities by subjecting immigrant families, students, or other st people to inappropriate and undeserved scrutiny.

All of these measures hurt our economy, our country, and our families. In fact, the actions President Trump announced today undermine the very values and policies that this nation stands for and that have made America great. We will not stand for this..

*Instead we stand for liberty and justice for all.  Will you stand with us?  Click here: http://action.momsrising.org/sign/Immigration_Ban/

On a personal note: I’ve worked in politics in some way or another since I was 19 years old.  I have dear friends who are Democrat leaders, people I love who are Republicans, Green party members as friends, and family members who are Libertarians.  I’ve watched more than a couple Presidents come and go—and I am here to tell you: What is happening in the Oval Office this week is not normal.

It’s not the same old partisan gridlock, it’s not the regular chess game of politics; it’s a dangerous departure from the founding values of our nation and of all we hold dear in terms of the pursuit of a “more perfect union” with liberty and justice for all.

But there’s one thing that working in politics for decades brings me: HOPE.  I know that people really do have power when they rise together and make their opinions heard.

It’s time to rise. It’s time to call on our national leaders to remember our nation’s founding principles—and to move our nation toward being a “more perfect union” instead of breaking it apart.

And the more mini Statues of Liberty we send , the bigger the impact we’ll have with elected leaders, with the media, and even with the Oval Office. There is strength in numbers.  So please post this action link on  your Facebook and Twitter pages — and also forward this email to friends.

Let’s do this!  Let’s deluge the Trump Towers in liberty!
