Quality, affordable healthcare coverage is incredibly important to families in the U.S.

MomsRising has recieved thousands of messages from our volunteers with stories about why the Affordable Care Act (a.k.a. Obamacare), Medicaid, CHIP, and Medicare matter for the health of their families. This #ProtectOurCare blog series will highlight many of the stories we've received.

From Holly in Pennsylvania:

"Without the PA CHIP program our family would have to pay an additional $90 per paycheck ($2340 per year) for our children's health care coverage which would effect our ability to pay our monthly expenses like rent, utilities and food. When our children are sick, which is rare, we can take them to the doctor without the additional worry of paying over $100 for an office visit that was not budgeted and that doesn't even take into consideration any medications that are needed to maintain health. We're able to choose a provider that works best for our family and are very grateful for the coverage that our children have received through this program. Removing this coverage would be detrimental to our ability meet our monthly bills regardless of having a regular income through employment."
