As President Trump announced actions today, he invoked moms as an excuse for advancing his divisive policy that will hurt our economy, our families, and destroy communities.  We want to state clearly: The actions President Trump announced today are his agenda, not ours. And they are, quite simply, wrong.

The moms of America know that the diversity of our nation is what's made us a strong, creative, and prosperous country.  We know that immigrants play a large and important role in our economy, founding many of our largest companies, creating and running small businesses, employing many people in our nation, playing an important role in our labor force, and as caregivers and community members. In fact, immigrants or the children of immigrantsfounded a full 40 percent of Fortune 500 companies.

The mothers of America do not want to build walls, deport immigrants or block refugees in need of new homes from resettling in this country.  We do not want to impose de facto religious tests on those seeking entry into our nation. We do not want to create divisions in our communities by treating immigrant families, students, or people with suspicion or by subjecting them to inappropriate and undeserved scrutiny. All of these measures hurt our economy, our country, and our families. In fact, the actions President Trump announced today undermine the very values and policies that this nation stands for and that have made America great.

MomsRising’s more than 1 million members, including people in every state in our nation, will not stand for this.
