NC: Let's get our vote on! Election Day is Tuesday, March 3
The wait is over! Tomorrow, Tuesday, March 3, is Primary Election Day in North Carolina!
This is our moment to make our voices heard and help shape the future of our communities. If you haven’t voted yet, tomorrow is your day!
Key Details for Election Day
Polls are open from 6:30 AM to 7:30 PM.
As long as you’re in line by 7:30 PM, you have the right to vote.
Unlike early voting, you must vote at your assigned polling place on Election Day. Be sure to double-check your location before heading out. Click here to find your Election Day polling place.
Curbside voting is available for voters who cannot enter the polling place due to age or disability. If you need this option, ask a poll worker for assistance.
Unfortunately, same day registration is not available on Election Day. If your registration isn’t current or you can’t reach your assigned polling place, request a provisional ballot.
**If you have a 17 year old who has pre-registered to vote and will be 18 by the general election in November, they are eligible to vote in the primary election. Learn more here.
4 Quick Ways to Be Vote-Ready Tuesday, March 3
1. Find Your Polling Place
Election Day voting happens at your assigned precinct. Confirm your location before you go so there are no surprises.
2. Bring Your Photo ID
North Carolina requires a photo ID to vote. Most people use a driver’s license, but many other IDs are accepted. Check the list of acceptable IDs.
Don’t have one with you? You can still vote by asking for an ID Exception Form at the polls.
3. Review Your Sample Ballot
Take a few minutes to look over your sample ballot so you feel confident and prepared when you walk in. This tool will help you find your polling location and your sample ballot.
4. Make a Plan
Pick a time that works with your schedule — before work, on your lunch break, after school pickup, or in the evening. A simple plan makes all the difference!
Voting by mail?
If you requested a mail-in ballot but haven't received it, call your county board of elections immediately. You may still have the opportunity to vote in person on Election Day.
Your ballot must be received by your county board of elections by 7:30 PM on Election Day. A postmark will not count, so if you have not already returned your ballot, it's best to return it in person to your county board of elections on Tuesday, March 3, Election Day. Find the address here.

Let’s show up for our families, our communities, and each other. Every vote truly matters.
Happy voting!
