Parents in California, now is the time to seek health care coverage for your children – no matter what their health status or if they’ve been previously denied coverage.

Thanks to a new federal law, private health insurance companies can no longer deny coverage to children due to a pre-existing condition like asthma, diabetes, cancer or other previous or ongoing illnesses. In California, these children are assured lower rates if their parents apply for private coverage during an "open enrollment" period. The current open enrollment period ends on March 1st, so enroll today!  (Note: The open enrollment period does NOT affect coverage obtained through your job or employer).

Visit http://finder.healthcare.gov/ to explore insurance options for your family.

Remember that two out of three uninsured children are eligible for low-cost comprehensive coverage through the state programs, Healthy Families or Medi-Cal.  To find out if your child may be eligible, call 1-877-KIDS-NOW.

Please forward this message to parents who may have no health insurance for their children. Thank you!
