Happy holidays! We're sharing a few inspiring bits to get the holiday started off on the right note! As well as some reasons why we're so thankful for YOU, Good Food Force!

1. THE HOT LINE
* This Month: 1000 Moms Encouraging Schools to Keep It Up!
We're so inspired by the almost 1000 moms who signed up to deliver storybooks in support of healthy school foods to their local school! The books contain testimonials from moms on why the new meal and snack standards are such a big deal, and helpful tips for school staff on how to make the changes a big success. Sign up to join us! And if you're delivering a storybook, please remember to share a photo or tweet: #momslovehealthyschools or email karen@momsrising.org

* Reasons Why We're Thankful for the Good Food Force! From the MomsRising.org Staff...
  • Because you make time to demand that *all* kids have access to healthy foods!
  • Because you move local policies for children's health and nutrition, even while things are tough in Congress.
  • Because you share ideas, recipes, laughs and support.
  • Because you're inspiring and making a difference in your corner of the world.

3. YEARBOOK
* Meet Sarene Alsharif, an amazing GFF member from Illinois!
I am a homeschooling mom of two, a nutritionist and public health educator and event planner and finally a writer. My passion for nutrition and public health stems from prevention. I believe education helps individuals and families make better choices promoting health and preventing disease. For this reason I began my business Healthy Plate 5 in Rockford, IL and started my journey spreading nutrition education at local libraries, schools, fitness centers, business, other organizations and teaching nutrition at Rock Valley College. I also began writing for magazines and multiple blogs. The children keep me motivated because I see hope. When a parent or a child tell me how the programs or events have impacted their lives and helped them make better choices every second spent preparing, researching, emailing and organizing becomes meaningful and worthwhile. I love what I do but helping families live happy, healthy lives fuels my motivation every day. Follow Sarene at @healthyplate5 on twitter and instagram.
