Spring is here — and with it, powerful stories and a growing movement are blossoming. Together, we are hope in motion during really hard times. Thanks to your support, we helped get 12 House Republicans to stand up with Democrats in opposition to Medicaid cuts; and we also celebrated a huge victory in Washington State: the expansion of Paid Family and Medical Leave job protections! MomsRising members were at the heart of it all — from drafting bill language to testifying in Olympia.
Our stories are making waves beyond state lines, in our nation’s capitol, and across the country. For instance, this month, Glamour featured MomsRising’s take on harmful federal birth rate proposals, spotlighting how we’re fighting back with passion and action.
From living rooms to lawmakers’ offices, your support fuels every step. Together, we’ve hand-delivered more than 2,800 storybooks on MomsRising member experiences to Congress, trained moms to speak on national stages, ensured that lawmakers hear our collective voice loud and clear, and so much more.
Thank you for powering this movement — and this moment.
With deep gratitude,
Kristin, Maggie, Sara, Felicia, Gloria, and everyone at MomsRising

WASHINGTON STATE WINS EXPANDED PAID FAMILY AND MEDICAL LEAVE!

MomsRising Washington Director Maggie Humphreys delivers testimony before state lawmakers, advocating for expanded job protections in Washington's Paid Family and Medical Leave program.
Great news! Hope is in motion at the state level. For instance, MomsRising Washington state helped secure passage of HB 1213, significantly expanding job protection for Washington's Paid Family and Medical Leave program.
This legislation extends protection to workers at much smaller companies, phasing in coverage over time:
2026: Employers with 25+ employees
2027: Employers with 15+ employees
2028: Employers with 8+ employees
This is a dramatic improvement from current law, which only protects workers at companies with 50+ employees who've worked a full year with 1,250+ hours.
Thank you to our generous donors! Support from our donors helped fund the research that underpinned this legislation and powered our comprehensive advocacy — from drafting the bill language to coordinating stakeholders and leading lobbying efforts in Olympia. Our members' testimony at every hearing helped secure this victory that will provide thousands more Washington families with job security when they need time to care. Read more about this victory.
FROM LIVING ROOMS TO LAWMAKERS: STORIES THAT MOVE POLICY

MomsRising volunteers delivered a Families Over Billionaires storybook to U.S. Rep. Tokuda (Hawaii).
Thanks to your support, more than 2,800 MomsRising members across the country signed up to hand-deliver storybooks filled with powerful personal stories to their U.S. representatives during the April congressional recess. These storybooks — which highlight dozens of voices on critical issues — are shining a spotlight on what’s at stake for families when Medicaid, SNAP, education, and child care are on the chopping block by Republican leaders.
This all-hands-on-deck effort brought our message directly to lawmakers’ front doors: Stop the budget cuts to give the mega-wealthy more tax breaks. Invest in families.
Your donations made it possible to print, mail, and mobilize this grassroots delivery campaign. Thank you for being the fuel behind this powerful action. Together, we are making sure Congress hears families — loud and clear. And….it’s working! Proving the power of moms, our voices and our stories, should never be underestimated: recently 12 House Republicans stood up with Democrats by sending a letter themselves in opposition to Medicaid cuts. So we’re keeping the pressure on!
APRIL MOM POWER SPOTLIGHT

On April 10, MomsRising member Brittany from Florida (pictured) stood on the steps of the U.S. Capitol at the Rally to Say NO to Tax Breaks for Billionaires & Corporations and delivered a powerful message. Speaking alongside national advocates, Brittany called for a fairer tax system that prioritizes families over corporate profits.
"As a single mom, I work hard every day — and I still struggle to afford the basics for my kids. Meanwhile, billionaires and big corporations are getting massive tax breaks. It’s not right, and it’s not sustainable."
Thanks to contributions from the MomsRising community, moms like Brittany receive media training and support to confidently share their stories and advocate for change. Watch Brittany in action on Instagram
Our Mom Power in Action Spotlight this month also included:
- Katy (North Carolina) addressed state lawmakers about the high cost of child care during budget advocacy day and was covered in NC Newsline and Enlace Latino NC.
- Robin (Pennsylvania) spoke about Medicaid's importance for her mother with Parkinson's at the National Domestic Workers Assembly. She was also featured in a local news story in March.
- Renee (Delaware) highlighted the need for Medicaid, paid leave, and child care at the Care Can't Wait coalition dinner
- Marya (New Jersey) shared how Medicaid supports her developmentally disabled adult sons during a tele-town hall with eight U.S. senators. She was also featured in The Guardian in March.
Your support helps amplify these voices across the country as they fight for families and a better future.
