Proposed state budget cuts to the Healthy Families Program remain at $90 million. If this cut is included in the final budget package, an estimated 570,000 children would lose their only source of affordable health coverage, unless funding from outside sources is secured. In fact, the Managed Risk Medical Insurance Board (MRMIB) would freeze enrollment of children into California's successful Healthy Families Program beginning July 17th! That's in 4 days!

The Governor and the Legislature have the power and responsibility to prevent an enrollment freeze in this program. Alternate budget solutions can be found before July 17th that would protect children's health coverage. If they continue to fail, the consequences will be severe. Kids won't have health coverage, they will get sicker, and some children could even die as parents are forced to delay accessing health care until it's too late, simply because they can't afford it.

KIDS WILL DIE: Along with many of our children's health allies, the 100% Campaign and PICO California have created a website - http://www.kidswilldie.com - to help fight the draconian proposals and to protect the critically important Healthy Families Program.

On behalf of The Children’s Partnership and the 100% Campaign, I'd like to thank all the MomsRising.org members in California for their steadfast work to ensure that every child has access to health coverage.
