We Can't Wait to Meet You! Apply Today: 2026-2027 Washington State Fellowship
You’ve experienced the life-changing impact of public programs built to nurture all families, like Washington State paid family and medical leave. You've navigated the gauntlet of the “affordable” housing and child care search. Now, you're feeling the weight of rising costs at the grocery store and the gas pump. Picture yourself turning these experiences – and your lived expertise navigating them – into real policy change, at the state capitol and in your community.
Apply here to become a MomsRising Washington State Fellow!
Application Deadline: Monday, July 6th at 5pm PT
Rooted and Rising: Our fellows are rooted in their local communities and rising to organize and lift the critical voices of families most impacted by policy decisions and structural inequality. Together, we’re nurturing Washington’s present and future so that all people and families can thrive within systems and collective safety structures that honor and cherish us.
Fellowship Program Details:
- 8-month leadership development program (September 2026 – April 2026) for parents and caregivers across Washington State that are ready to kickstart or strengthen their policy advocacy skills and ensure impacted families are heard by lawmakers. This opportunity is bilingual, conducted simultaneously in English and Spanish, with language interpretation and translation woven into the fabric of the fellowship. We center joy, humility, community-building, and collective learning throughout the program.
- Fellows will learn about and advocate for state policies that advance high quality and affordable child care and early learning, protect paid family and medical leave, and equitably tax the mega-wealthy to invest in public education, nutrition, healthcare, and thriving communities. Fellows will also reach out to the voters in their lives and communities about the importance of opposing IL26-001 and IL26-638, two harmful initiatives on the November Washington State ballot that threaten student safety.
- Fellowship Advocacy Activities and Responsibilities Include:
- Orientation & Opening Retreat (Virtual/Online): Half-Days on Saturday, September 19th and Saturday, September 26th. Regional in-person meetups to follow this fall!
- Monthly virtual meeting participation (one standard weekday evening per month, 1-2 hours)
- With support from the MomsRising team and fellowship program, complete a series of activities and projects, like hosting a house party or community event; helping to get out the vote ahead of November 2026; authoring op-eds and letters to the editor; testifying on key legislation; meeting with state lawmakers; and recruiting parents in your community to join MomsRising actions.
- In-person 2027 Fellowship Retreat and Lobby Day in Olympia, WA: Saturday, February 27, Sunday, February 28, and Monday, March 1st (travel, lodging and meals covered by MomsRising)
- Orientation & Opening Retreat (Virtual/Online): Half-Days on Saturday, September 19th and Saturday, September 26th. Regional in-person meetups to follow this fall!
- Modest stipend provided every two months of the program, plus additional per diem stipends for select MomsRising activities.

Please note: Due to the nature of our advocacy agenda and goals of the fellowship program, we prioritize offering fellowship seats to moms and caregivers in WA that have current or recent (within the past two years) lived experience navigating child care, paid leave, and the affordability crisis. Together, we catalyze these experiences into statewide advocacy so all families can thrive.
