On 4.23.25, we had a #WellnessWed discussion on X and BlueSky focused on why Medicaid is vital for people with disabilities. Guests included FamiliesUSA, Community Catalyst, the Center for Law and Social Policy, and Georgetown CCF. The conversation explored how Medicaid supports millions of disabled individuals with essential services like home and community-based care, therapies, and personal assistance. Participants shared how Medicaid helps bridge gaps in care, especially for those facing barriers due to poverty, geography, or systemic discrimination. The conversation highlighted Medicaid’s critical role in schools such as funding therapies and supports that help children with disabilities thrive in the classroom. Advocates also warned that cuts to Medicaid would be life-altering, threatening access to care and independence. The discussion closed with a call to center disabled voices in policy and continue organizing to protect and strengthen Medicaid for the long-term. This critical discussion had a potential reach of 6.9M accounts engaged 755 accounts.
Home and Community-Based Services are vital for individuals with disabilities, enabling them to live independently and engage fully in their communities. Medicaid funds HCBS, ensuring that people receive necessary support in familiar environments. #WellnessWed https://t.co/lUAwgZ0dp4
