A Kid Press Pool with microphones and megaphones will be part of the action when more than two dozen moms from 23 states, most with their children, visit Capitol Hill Thursday to urge Congress to reject cuts to Medicaid and other health care programs, as well as child care, public education, and food and nutrition supports in order to pay for yet more tax cuts for billionaires.
At that event, toddlers and children will honor congressional champions including Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi (CA) and U.S. Representatives Becca Balint (VT), Suzan DelBene (WA), Lois Frankel (FL), Jimmy Gomez (CA), Steven Horsford (NV), Pramila Jayapal (WA), LaMonica McIver (NJ), Rob Menendez (NJ), Kim Schrier (WA), Melanie Stansbury (NM), and Nikema Williams (GA). The children will present the members of Congress with flowers and golden megaphones. The members will speak and then meet the children at the Kid Press Pool to answer questions, chat with the moms, and take pictures.

“Moms are using their outside voices to fight for policies that will boost the economy, narrow the damaging wage gaps moms and women face, and remove the hurdles we face in becoming parents, raising our kids, getting and keeping our jobs, and contributing to our communities,” Rowe-Finkbeiner said. “This Mother’s Day, we’re fighting for increased access to affordable child care and elder care, paid family and medical leave, fair pay, a monthly Child Tax Credit, food and nutrition supports, and access to Medicaid and maternal, reproductive, and all health care.”
