Great tips from Cristina, aka “TriathlonMami,” a mother of two rambunctious boys in Miami, Florida.

A journey of a thousand miles starts with a single step. Make a decision to get going, and then take daily action.  Here are some tips to help you get started:

  1. Write a list of why you are starting and keep it handy. This will be your pep talk as your New Year’s enthusiasm becomes buried in everyday life.
  2. Spend money.  Sign up for a race, a coach, or a gym. This money taken from the family budget is an INVESTMENT in your health. It is your responsibility to make it a successful one.
  3. Grab a friend. Few things make you as committed as someone counting on you to show up.
  4. Do it for a bigger cause. Turn your fitness journey into a fundraiser or other way of contributing to a cause.
  5. Get Inspired. You CAN do this, just read about all the other moms who made it happen in their <DEL>life</DEL> lives.  If they can do it, you can do it, too.
  6. Know You Will Stumble. But also know you can get back up and start over.
