The bill the U.S. Senate will consider in the next week or so is not a Big, Beautiful Bill but rather a Big Bad BEEtrayal of America’s moms and families. It would take health care away from some 16 million people and take food assistance away from even more. It would deepen hunger among children, families, and seniors, gut Medicaid, dismantle the Affordable Care Act (ACA), take coverage away from people with disabilities, force seniors and people with disabilities out of nursing homes, and shutter rural and other hospitals while increasing the debt and severely damaging our economy -– all in order to give another tax break to the super wealthy.
Moms and leaders will be on Capitol Hill Wednesday morning in bee costumes to urge lawmakers to prioritize moms and families over the billionaires and greedy corporations that want even more tax breaks. The event will be:
Stop the Big, Bad BEEtrayal
10:40 am, Wednesday, June 25, 2025
Hart Senate Office Building Atrium, by the “Mountains and Clouds” sculpture
With
U.S. Senator Patty Murray (WA)
MomsRising Executive Director Kristin Rowe-Finkbeiner
MomsRising National Director for Health Care Felicia Burnett, a Raleigh, North Carolina mom whose son used Medicaid for chemotherapy
Jean Nguyen, an Olney, Maryland mom whose premature baby used Medicaid
Cindy Camp, a Baltimore, Maryland mom whose family relies on SNAP
Following the event, MomsRising will deliver stories from moms across the nation to the office of each U.S. Senator.
“Moms are fighting for our families’ lives, our futures and our economy right now,” Rowe-Finkbeiner said. “We’re coming to Capitol Hill to create a buzz for Medicaid, for SNAP, for public schools, for reproductive health, for affordable child and elder care, and for fair treatment of every immigrant family. All of that strengthens our economy and makes it possible for us to care for our families and contribute to our communities. Republican leaders in the U.S. Senate are trying to advance a bill that destroys the programs that help moms and families succeed in order to pay for more tax breaks for billionaires and greedy corporations and for more cruel human rights abuses against immigrant families. Moms are determined to stop it.”
