Maggie Humphreys is a passionate advocate for women and families, serving as a Senior Director on the Washington State team at MomsRising. Maggie leads the organization’s state legislative strategy and campaigns on workplace standards, early learning, tax justice, and more. In her work, Maggie combines legisaltive strategy with organizing to bring the stories, experiences, and priorities of working caregivers straight into the halls of government in order to change the direction and destiny of public policy.
Maggie served as one of the negotiators behind Washington's landmark Paid Family and Medical Leave law, passed in 2017 after months of deliberations between advocates, business, and legislators. She also helped lead the coalition that secured the state's first tax credit for working epople with the passage of the Working Families Tax Credit in 2021. Alongside partners, Maggie has also helped champion victories such as the Fair Start for Kids Act, the passage of the capital gains tax, and a best-in-nation ban on book bans in public schools.
When she isn’t fighting the patriarchy in the legislature, you can find Maggie chasing her toddler and trying to get outside. Maggie holds an Executive Master’s in Public Administration from the University of Washington, although she will always root for the Cougs.
