Tell Congress to Pass the People’s Response Act! The People’s Response Act emphasizes an inclusive, holistic, and health-centered approach to public safety by creating a public safety division within the Department of Human Health and Services — because communities and experts agree that public safety is a matter of public health. It adopts a new approach to public safety that will save lives, and build systems of care that are rooted in improving the well-being of all communities. This approach must be equitable, health-centered, and preventative to stop violence and harm before it occurs...

TELL YOUR NEIGHBORS! Nonpartisan report shows immigrants make the economy stronger! A new report by the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office (CBO) estimates that thanks to the uptick in immigration, following the pandemic, the U.S. economy will grow an additional $7 trillion!!! U.S. revenue is also estimated to be greater by $1 trillion than it would have been without immigrants coming to this country. Even Trump-appointed Federal Reserve Chair Jerome H. Powell recognizes the massive contributions immigrants make in keeping our economy growing. In a CBS 60 Minutes interview Powell said, “I...

Remind Congress the critical role immigrant caregivers play in our lives! “My mother died a few months ago of cancer and we would have not made it as a family without the daily care from immigrant caregivers. This country needs immigrants from all walks of life and we are lucky to have them.” – MomsRising member from Pennsylvania Despite the terrible things we hear that some members of Congress and others are saying about immigrants, we know the reality. Immigrants are our nation’s strength. And as National Caregivers Day approaches on February 16th, we want to use this opportunity to make...

Tyree Nichols should be here. This week we honor the life of Tyree Nichols a father, skateboarding aficionado and amateur photographer who was taken from his loved by police violence at the age of 29. One year ago, #TyreNichols was driving home to have dinner with his family when he was pulled over by Memphis police who claimed the Black man was driving recklessly and yanked him out of his car. Officers hit him with a stun gun and pepper sprayed him, but he managed to get away and tried to run home. Five officers caught up with him just steps from his house, and, as he called out for his...

Scary Halloween: Comprehensive gun policy reform NOW, starting with a ban on assault weapons and high-cap magazines! Over Halloween weekend, a series of mass shootings across the country left at least 11 people dead and 76 others injured - and last week, headlines were captured by the tragedy in Lewiston, Maine, where a military-style assault weapon was used to shoot to death at least 18 people and wounding many more in the worst mass shooting this year. The number of mass shootings terrorizing communities every year has been rising rapidly, from 273 in 2014 to 647 in 2020, more than doubling...

How can we celebrate Immigrant Heritage Month? Find out here! This Immigrant Heritage Month we must speak up for our immigrant family members, co-workers, friends, and neighbors! Right now, immigrants are under attack across the nation. Moms know how important our immigrant community members are in keeping our families and kids healthy. Immigrants make up 17% of the nation's healthcare workers, 18% of childcare workers, 38% of home health aides and 12% of the education workforce – caregivers in every sense of the word! So how do we thank our amazing caregivers and the entire immigrant...

Help us protect access to health, nutrition & housing for immigrant families and children! The Public Charge Rule the Biden administration published was a much clearer and moderate framework for immigrant families to access non-cash assistance programs like Medicaid and SNAP that help keep their children healthy! This was a welcomed change and badly needed – not just because it puts an end to an unfortunate chapter in our history during which a heartless, anti-immigrant administration used public policies to intimidate and punish immigrant families, but also because it makes clear that...

SIGN NOW to protect WIC! WIC is getting attacked from all angles. The House Republican budget not only holds our families hostage by calling for across-the-board cuts to programs like WIC in order to raise the debt ceiling to avoid default in the next two weeks, they also want to gut fruit and vegetable benefits by nearly 62%, dramatically decreasing access to nutritious foods for nearly five million women and kids enrolled in the program. With rising food costs, and increased program participation, it is more critical than ever that we strengthen WIC to provide pregnant people, new moms,...

Quick signature: Thank Biden for his Executive Order to improve care! This week, the Biden/Harris administration issued a bold, transformative, and badly needed Executive Order to improve our nation’s care infrastructure. At a time when millions of families cannot access or afford the child care, elder care, and/or disability care we need, these measures will support moms, family caregivers, care workers, businesses, communities, and our economy. Let’s keep up the MOMentum for child care, elder and disability care, paid family and medical leave, and a strong care infrastructure by thanking...

QUICK SIGNATURE: Important Update on How You Can Protect Medication Abortion! Access to mifepristone, a safe and effective abortion drug that has been used by more than five million people since the FDA approved it more than 20 years ago is still in terrible danger. So we are teaming up with reproductive justice allies to file an amicus brief. This is our opportunity to make our voices heard and help the courts...

Send a Letter to the Editor to protect SNAP! Our families are struggling enough as it is to afford the rising costs of food. But now extremist Republicans in the U.S. House of Representatives are planning to make it even harder for many families to feed their children by making massive cuts and restrictions to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP or food stamps). Members of Congress are home right now for their April recess and we want to flood local newspapers with messages on the importance of protecting SNAP.
