Statement of leaders of MomsRising, the online and on-the-ground organization of more than one million mothers and their families, on the passing of Dolores Huerta:

“Our workplaces are fairer, our communities healthier, our country stronger because of Dolores Huerta’s fierce, incredibly effective lifetime of advocacy. She was an icon who spent decades advancing the dignity of farmworkers, Latinas, women, and all working people. She was a mom who worked tirelessly to help children and families by amplifying the voices and improving the living conditions of the low-wage workers who too often are overlooked. She was a transformative figure who gave voice to those who others leave behind.”

-Statement of Kristin Rowe-Finkbeiner, Executive Director and CEO, MomsRising

“Generations of organizers and changemakers learned from Dolores Huerta. Generations of Americans benefited from her lifelong crusade for justice, fairness, compassion and equality. Generations not yet born will be empowered by her proud legacy. Dolores Huerta was a hero, a legend, and an inspiration. In her memory, and with boundless admiration and gratitude, we pledge to do our best to carry on her work.”

-Statement of Xochitl Oseguera, Senior Vice President, MomsRising
