Runny noses and colds? I expect that when I send my kid to school. What I don’t expect is meningitis and whooping cough. But Governor DeSantis has made that our soon-to-be reality with the elimination of several vaccine protections.

As Governor DeSantis tries out his next stop on his “Florida Fails Families” policy tour, families like ours are left wondering…is the Florida Legislature going to put a stop to this hot mess?!

Florida families should be free to send their kids to school without worrying about their health. Urge the Florida Legislature to keep our state from becoming the worst petri dish experiment no one wants. SIGN now to stop DeSantis from further dismantling vaccine protections! 

Why the Florida Legislature? Because several vaccines in Florida are required by state law, which means only the legislature should be able to change if they are no longer required – like the measles and rubella vaccines. Florida Surgeon General Ladapo has already indicated that he intends to work with state leaders to repeal all vaccine mandates. 

That means that both our Governor and state Surgeon General will try to convince the Florida State Legislature to eliminate life-saving vaccines to dangerous diseases. That’s why Florida state legislators need to hear from you ASAP.

Governor Ron DeSantis is waging a dangerous war on public health by rolling back vaccine requirements and spreading mistrust in science. His administration is working to block schools and hospitals from requiring life-saving vaccines, and in doing so, is discouraging common sense health protections. 

Instead of protecting families, DeSantis is pushing policies that confuse parents, break trust, and put our communities at risk. Worst of all, this measure doesn’t even make sense (beyond playing dangerous political theater games) because Florida already has several broad vaccines exemptions in place for families as an option.

Our families deserve better. Health policy should be guided by science, not personal agendas. Families already have choices in our state to not vaccinate their children. Taking away mandates puts our children’s health at risk unnecessarily.
