TELL YOUR NEIGHBORS! Nonpartisan report shows immigrants make the economy stronger!
A new report by the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office (CBO) estimates that thanks to the uptick in immigration, following the pandemic, the U.S. economy will grow an additional $7 trillion!!! U.S. revenue is also estimated to be greater by $1 trillion than it would have been without immigrants coming to this country.
Even Trump-appointed Federal Reserve Chair Jerome H. Powell recognizes the massive contributions immigrants make in keeping our economy growing. In a CBS 60 Minutes interview Powell said, “I will say, over time, though, the U.S. economy has benefited from immigration. And, frankly, just in the last year a big part of the story of the labor market coming back into better balance is immigration returning to levels that were more typical of the pre-pandemic era.”
The time is NOW to speak out to protect the ACA!
Due to increased subsidies passed by the Biden administration and Congress in the Inflation Reduction Act, a historic 21.3 MILLION people have signed up for health care coverage through the Affordable Care Act (ACA)! Unbelievably, despite these incredible wins, Republicans are STILL on a mission to repeal the ACA.
Moms like Ruth from Colorado have shared with us how critical the ACA is for her family:
“When I was five and a half months pregnant with my oldest, I found out they had a heart defect that would need to be repaired within a year of them being born. When they were born, we also learned that they had trisomy 21, most people know this as Down Syndrome. If not for the ACA we would have been unable to insure my child due to their medical conditions. And if not for insurance, my child would not have received a life-saving surgery. If not for insurance and Medicaid my child would not be able to receive the services needed to live the healthiest and most independent life possible.”
Wait, you did all THAT in 2023?
Stunning. Transformative. Inspiring!
Our new Impact Report shows how the MomsRising community (YOU!) surged with power in 2023. Together we played a major role in: Catalyzing a historic Executive Order on Care, securing a resounding victory for abortion access in Ohio, generating MOMentum for paid family and medical leave in Congress, garnering unprecedented support for affordable child care, thwarting hateful book bans and censorship in schools and libraries, achieving multiple state legislative and budget successes, expanding our corps of well-trained local volunteer mom leaders, and more.
Thank you!
We’re in awe of the commitment and persistence demonstrated by MomsRising volunteers and supporters in these triumphs and are profoundly grateful to work with members like you across the nation. Mom Power forever!
Tell Congress to pass the Books Save Lives Act and End Book Bans Now!
Every reader deserves to see themselves reflected in our literature. But instead of honoring the brilliance and diversity of our authors, illustrators, educators and librarians by expanding access to learning and literature, school districts and legislators across the country are focusing on further marginalizing people who already face systemic discrimination in our society — including Black people, people of color, the LGBTQ+ community, religious minorities, and people with disabilities — through discriminatory book bans.
Book bans are NOT about protecting children. They're about censorship and exclusion. They're about discrimination.
The Books Save Lives Act would counteract the rise in book bans and help ensure an inclusive learning environment for all students.
Tell Congress to Act! Pass the Books Save Lives Act, and end Book Bans for good.
Tell Congress to pass the Books Save Lives Act and End Book Bans Now!
End PUSHOUT Act
Each and every child regardless of race, gender, class, faith, status, or ability deserves the right to a quality education and to attend schools where they can learn, grow, feel safe, and thrive. Yet for girls of color and other traditionally marginalized students, discrimination has led schools to disproportionately exclude them from the classroom through harsh discipline practices, such as suspension, expulsion, and even arrest.
The Ending PUSHOUT Act makes federal grants conditional on schools banning most suspensions and expulsions of children up to fifth grade. It also aims to eliminate suspensions and expulsions over minor infractions like tardiness and absenteeism or violations of grooming and appearance policies that consistently discriminate against students of color.
It’s time to end harmful practices that push girls of color out of the classroom and dismantle the school-to-prison pipeline for good.
Join us in demanding that Congress Pass the Ending PUSHOUT Act !
