Dear MomsRising Volunteer,
It’s National Volunteer Week, and MomsRising is appreciating – raising a glass to, applauding, sending huge waves of love to – YOU!
Thank you for being a member of our amazing, powerful, and inspiring community of more than a million moms and caregivers who make MomsRising possible.
A MomsRising volunteer is truly a superhero, often juggling care for children and loved ones with community and work obligations, and sometimes under seemingly impossible conditions. Yet you still find the time to take action by lifting your voice, sharing your stories, showing up at meetings, rallies, and elected representatives’ offices, and so much more. You are the critical ingredient in MomsRising’s secret sauce, joining together with us and other moms and caregivers in our growing and unstoppable movement demanding positive change.
When MomsRising started, no one – especially policymakers – was thinking about family struggles and the policy reforms we needed to lift us. My, how times have changed! Because of you and millions of moms and caregivers like you, now, in 2024, care issues like child care, elder and disability care, paid family and medical leave, care workers, reproductive health, safety, and so much more are top of mind across the country and in Washington, DC. President Biden has even declared that the month of April is Care Workers Recognition Month, with a flurry of activities and an executive order that increases access to high-quality care and supporting caregivers.
In fact, right now, MomsRising members and volunteers across the nation, including MomsRising’s Beacon Leaders - our network of most engaged Super Mom volunteer community leaders who work most closely with us - are taking exciting action. They are carrying out our April Showers - Mom Powers campaign that tells lawmakers to rain down care policies so families and the economy can bloom. 52 separate actions are unfolding in 18 states, 10 in Spanish, involving hundreds of local volunteer leaders, who are sharing and collecting personal care stories as part of a narrative wave to rivet the attention of policy makers and the media. WOW, right?
Every day, you and other MomsRising volunteers are making a huge difference, a difference that can be felt in communities and homes across the nation.
Thank you, thank you, for trusting your advocacy to MomsRising, for partnering with us, and for bringing your power to our collective mission to build a country where everyone can thrive.
With deep gratitude, joy, and solidarity,
The entire MomsRising Team
