White House Move to Support Small Businesses that Offer Child Care Another Important Step in Addressing Crisis that Is Harming Moms, Businesses, Our Economy

“Moms applaud the Biden/Harris administration and Small Business Administration (SBA) for the actions announced yesterday to support small businesses that offer child care for working families. The country needs the new funding opportunities the SBA will make available through its Women Business Center program, which will be used to increase child care slots and enhance access to quality, affordable child care.
“We also welcome the child care business development guide the SBA will create, to help people learn to start and run child care businesses and understand how to access capital, meet licensing requirements, and address tax considerations. We cheer the increase in SBA lending for child care businesses under the Biden-Harris Administration, which has increased by more than $200 million – nearly 10% more than during the same period during the Trump administration.
“A robust child care system is essential for moms to remain in the workforce, families to be economically secure, businesses to be able to hire the workers they need, children to have the early learning opportunities that help them succeed in school, and for our economy to thrive. The Biden/Harris administration has acted time and again to stabilize and support the nation’s struggling child care system and invest in its workforce. But we will not solve America’s child care crisis until Congress invests much more in stabilizing child care. It’s past time for that to happen.”
