Pittsburgh Moms to Hold Back-to-School Mutual Aid Event Saturday
Lisa Lederer, 202/371-1996
Amidst unprecedented threats to federal education funding, Medicaid, and SNAP, Pittsburgh moms and families will gather at the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh – East Liberty branch on Saturday for a back-to-school mutual aid event organized by MomsRising and Mother Forward. At the event, families are invited to "give what you have, take what you need" as the new school year begins and back-to-school costs continue to soar. Organizers will distribute bags with school supplies. Parents will also write postcards to state and federal leaders with messages about the urgent need to fully fund public schools, Medicaid, and SNAP.
The event is free and open to the media. It is one of 40 similar events taking place across the country this month, organized by MomsRising.
