America’s Moms Welcome U.S. House Vote to Make Health Coverage More Affordable, Demand Senate Also Extend ACA Premium Tax Credits Now

“The U.S. House took one very welcome, long overdue step today to alleviate the health care crisis tens of millions of families are facing by voting to extend the expiring ACA premium tax credits for three years. America’s moms thank every representative who voted for that bill today – and we are counting on the U.S. Senate to also pass a clean three-year extension of the ACA premium tax credits immediately.
“Today’s vote should have happened months ago, before these essential premium tax credits expired, forcing tens of millions of moms and families to choose between the health coverage they need and paying for rent and food. The fact that it happened against the wishes of both the Trump administration and Republican leaders in Congress is deeply disturbing. Millions of moms and families of every political background are in crisis, unable to afford health coverage and other essentials and facing even more catastrophes as the reckless decision by congressional Republican leaders to cut nearly $1 trillion from Medicaid takes effect. Today’s vote is only a first step in alleviating the health and affordability crisis Republican leaders have created.”
