Woo hooo!!! The Paid Sick Days Ballot Initiative in Milwaukee, WI won in a landslide victory on Tuesday, with the approval of 68% of voters. This is a huge win for the citizens of Milwaukee, who will now be able to earn paid sick days when this law goes into effect.

This victory has tremendous national significance. Milwaukee is now the third city to pass a paid sick days law, and the huge margin of victory here sends a message to every other municipality, state, and to Congress that the people want paid sick days, and we want them now!

In support of this initiative, MomsRising members handed out 15,000 pieces of "sick or treat" candy on Halloween, contacted leaders to garner their support, and friends told friends to vote YES. Your work significantly contributed to the fantastic work of the Paid Sick Days coalition, lead by 9to5.org.

Thank you for all you've done, and we can't wait to work with you in the coming year to bring policies like Paid Sick Days, Parental Leave, Fair Pay, Breastfeeding rights, and Early Learning to Wisconsin and the country!

Special thanks and congratulations go to Amy and Sangita, and the entire team at 9to5, for their tireless work on this initiative.
