I’m here to be a mom and check-in because I don’t want you missing any of the big voting deadlines. I know how tempting procrastination is, but Florida’s Primary Election is just around the corner, and voters like you need to get your ducks in a row.
First thing's first: Florida is a CLOSED primary state. This means if you want to vote for your party's candidates in the primary, you must be registered with that specific political party by July 20th (that’s ONE week from today!). You can't just show up and wing it!
Write these dates down on the family calendar, put them in your phone, or magnet them to the fridge:
- July 20: The Absolute Final Deadline to Register Before the Primary. This is the last day to register to vote or change your party affiliation for the primary.
- August 6 (by 5:00 PM): Deadline to request a Vote-by-Mail ballot. (Don't wait until 4:59 PM, please).
- August 8 – August 15/16: Early Voting period. (Check your local county for exact dates and hours. They may vary by area and every household has different schedules and you want to plan accordingly!).
August 18: Primary Election Day! Polls are open from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM.
Not sure if you’re registered or what party you're under? Check your Voter Status here.
Need to update your info or register for the first time? Register to Vote Online here.
We are doing incredible work as a team, but our civic duty starts at the ballot box. Drink some water, check your registration status, and let's make sure our voices are heard!
Together, we can make sure everyone is ready to vote.
