These are challenging times with unprecedented attacks on the people and communities we hold dear. The U.S. House's budget bill will have devastating consequences, which is why we must kill this "Big, Bad, Betrayal Bill” in Congress. Join us in this fight by attending an "Our Health Over Corporate Wealth Vigil" on Tuesday, June 17, from 6 to 7 p.m.

Let us know if you can make it! RSVP for one of the Our Health Over Corporate Wealth Vigils across North Carolina!

There will be many vigils across the state happening on the same day, at the same time, in front of all of Senators Tillis and Budd’s offices to say no to reckless federal cuts that threaten the health and well-being of millions. RSVP for a vigil:

Tens of thousands of you helped us in our fight to expand Medicaid, and we are calling on you to show up again in the fight to protect our health care! Please join us in solidarity to show our senators how deeply unpopular and harmful these cuts would be for our neighbors, kids, families, and communities.

Why MUST we stop the big, bad bill? The U.S. House's proposals harm our nation’s health by proposing policies that would:

  • Potentially end our Medicaid expansion program. Trump and the GOP want to reduce the federal match for any state’s Medicaid expansion program if states cover lawfully present humanitarian parolees, as North Carolina and 32 other states do. Our state has a trigger law that automatically ends our Medicaid expansion program in the event the federal match is ever below 90%.
  • Trigger automatic cuts to Medicare, harming our seniors because Trump and the GOP want to provide tax cuts to the richest 1% in our country.
  • Increase child hunger and food insecurity by cutting the SNAP food program, which would impact millions of children and families across the country.
  • Destabilize the ACA Marketplace and make it more difficult for people to enroll and afford coverage.

Medicaid, SNAP, Medicare, and the ACA are lifelines. They make it possible for people to give birth safely, for schoolchildren to have nutritious meals during the school year and the summer, and for families to afford care when someone gets sick. These are not luxuries—they are basic needs, and they are under attack in service to corporate greed. But the fight isn't over!

Please join us Tuesday, June 17, at 6 p.m., as we remind Senators Tillis and Budd to protect the people’s health over corporate wealth. Remember to invite your friends and family!
