REQUEST FOR MEETING: Would David Keene take delivery of MomsRising’s petition for common-sense gun laws?
Dear Mr. Keene,
Last December, when 20 first graders were gunned down at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, CT, there was a collective cry of pain from families across the country. The horrific mass murder of children forced us to confront the fact that daily in our nation 30 people are murdered by guns.
Within days of the Newtown shootings, MomsRising launched a petition calling for common-sense gun regulations, urging the NRA leadership and Congress to step up and start proposing laws that protect children and all people. More than 130,000 people have signed our petition.
On Valentine’s Day, the second-month anniversary of Newtown, MomsRising members delivered our petition to U.S. Senators and Members of Congress.
On the third-month anniversary of Newtown, I, accompanied by a small group of mothers, would like to deliver our petition to you or your appropriate representative.
Mr. Keene, every day in our nation, a parent, spouse or sibling doesn't come home from work or a child never returns home from school due to gun violence. As moms, we are working hard out of our love for all families to put an end to these tragedies.
Would you accept my invitation to meet and take delivery of MomsRising’s petition for common-sense gun regulations? We propose to visit your office around 10:30 the morning of March 14.
I look forward to your response.
