Calling all Durham parents and caregivers of kids 0-8: we need your opinion! What’s been your experience with preschool or other childcare arrangements? What would your preferences be for early care and education for your children? We want to know!

Calling all Durham parents and caregivers of kids 0-8: we need your opinion! What’s been your experience with preschool or other childcare arrangements? What would your preferences be for early care and education for your children? We want to know! Can you quickly share your thoughts?

These are exciting times for young children (and their families!) in Durham. For the last few years, a task force convened with the support of Durham County, the City of Durham, and Durham Public Schools has been looking at ways Durham can increase its supports and services to help our youngest residents thrive. Among these is an innovative proposal that Durham County can become a national leader by investing in its children through a voluntary, universal pre-kindergarten program.

Parent voices are essential in this process, and the Task Force needs to hear your opinions and early learning needs/hopes! Can you take 3 minutes or so to share your thoughts?

On behalf of Durham County, our partners at the Child Care Services Association are conducting a study of local families with children 0-8 to learn about their support for community-funded preschool options, their past and current preschool choices and arrangements, as well as their preferences for early care and education for their children.

The survey is super easy (I took it in 3 minutes!) and anonymous. If you choose to provide an email, you’ll be entered into a drawing for Target gift cards at the conclusion of the questionnaire as a token of their thanks. But most importantly, your voice and your input will be part of shaping the future for Durham’s kids and families.

This quick survey can make a big difference in ensuring that the ideas that emerge from the Task Force meet the needs and hopes of Durham families. But they can’t do it without you! Please take a brief moment to share your opinions, ideas, and feedback in this short survey.

While the survey is geared to families with kids aged 0-8, all of us can help by spreading the word. Encourage your friends, family, and neighbors with young children to participate by sharing on social media. Here’s some Facebook language you could copy and paste:

Durham friends with young children-your opinion is needed! Help Durham County figure out how to best meet the early learning needs of families, such as preschool and childcare, by filling out this quick survey (it should take around 3 minutes).
