Thanks to the pressure that the Biden administration has been applying, multiple corporations like Eli Lilly and Sanofi have capped patient costs for their insulin at $35 per month! This development is critical as 8.4 million Americans rely on insulin to survive, and as many as 1 in 4 patients have been unable to afford their medicine. [1]  This victory shows that our voices and advocacy has a powerful impact.

Now it’s time to call on Congress to extend those out-of-pocket caps on insulin to patients of all ages and to institute more prescription drug reforms so that we all can access the prescription drugs we need at affordable prices. We need Congress to act to save lives by making insulin affordable for all and capping the out-of-pocket costs for other prescription drugs. When you click, you’ll automatically sign on if we already have your information.

What’s happening?

In response to calls from patients, President Biden worked with Congress to pass the Inflation Reduction Act which was a major win for prescription drug reform and included a provision to restrict the cost of insulin to $35 monthly for patients enrolled in Medicare. Following this victory, a number of pharmaceutical companies bowed to pressure from President Biden and voluntarily capped patient costs for insulin. [2]

However, this is just the beginning. Congress needs to take further action to extend the benefits of prescription drug reforms, which are currently saving Medicare patients and taxpayers billions of dollars, to people of all age groups, ensuring that everyone can access reduced prescription drug prices, starting with insulin.

Life-saving medication, like insulin, should be easily available to everyone who needs it.

*Sign on now! Tell Congress to take meaningful action to cap the out-of-pocket costs of insulin for people of all ages and extend these caps to other prescription drugs!

Dear member of Congress:

Everyone should be able to access and afford the medication they need in order to live a healthy, productive life. Across the country, families are at risk for poor health outcomes because drug prices are preventing them from maintaining their health. We are grateful that Congress passed out-of-pocket caps on insulin for people on Medicare. However, as parents, we know that many children and people who are not yet eligible for Medicare need help to lower these costs too.

Parents should not have to choose between putting food on the table and paying for the life-saving drugs like insulin that their children need. We urge you to lower family costs by capping the out-of-pocket costs of insulin and other prescription drugs. Please work together to make prescription drug prices affordable, so that families can thrive!

Don’t forget to sign on! Lives are at stake. We cannot sit by and continue to let pharmaceutical companies put profits before the lives of our family members and friends by giving them free rein on prescription drug prices. We need Congress to take action!

The more people who speak out, the bigger our impact. Please take a moment to forward our action link to your friends and family and share our action link on social media: https://action.momsrising.org/sign/rxaction-postinsulinforall/
